PROFESSIONAL SHORT FORM CONTENT

HOW TO MAKE PROFESSIONAL SHORT FORM CONTENT

In today’s social media driven world, where attention spans are low, short form content is great for delivering fast information without wasting everyone’s valuable time.

A good strategy of a good 1 minute video is to grab attention of your viewers , and then send them to your various channels with a call to action slide.

The goal of course is before before they swipe to another video.

We recently were asked to sit ringside at Epic fighting to create a one minute teaser video of their recent MMA fight event. In order to promote future events to be used in their marketing campaigns. See link here

This video would serve as an instagram story as well as a reel.

Many people wonder if they should create short form for their content marketing strategy. The answer is yes because of one word.

TIME.

Let’s be real. People don’t have the time nowadays to watch 10 minute videos.

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Short form content cuts thru the bs and gets down to the core message. This is helpful for us in today’s society as we can easily watch a 1 minute content piece and get back to what we were doing.

With the insane amount of video uploaded to the web on a daily basis, our patience has run out for slow paced videos.

So how long should a short form content video be?

We believe that you can say alot in 30 seconds to 1 minute. You can cut clips down to 1 second each and with proper editing and flow, you can get your point across and lead them to your call to action.

What video elements are important for a good 1 minute video?

Here is a list of what we feel can make your 1 minute video polished and professional.

  • A good storyline

Just because a video is short doesn’t mean it can’t follow a linear storyline. We recommend following the basic story structure of beginning, middle and end. You should also put your most exciting images in the first 5 seconds to hook your viewer. Notice how we open this reference video with an action sequence of the best shots from the fights. The story should always lead to a conclusion where we add in the call to action slide. This way if they are interested they can dive deeper down our rabbit hole or sales funnel

  • Sound design

Adding sound effects like swooshes, cinematic hits, and great music that matches the visual aesthetic will elevate the experience for your viewer.

  • Call to Action Slide

Your video should always end with a call to action slide directing your viewer where to go next. Common CTAs are click link to learn more, shop now, or your brand logo.

  • Logo Animation & motion graphics

Logo animation & motion graphics are always a nice polish to any piece of video content.

In the reference video we did a simple logo animation on the end card for the sponsor of the event Hikei.

  • Vertical and horizontal exports.

We like to export our videos in horizontal and vertical formats for the different social channels. Each format has a different look and can be good for repurposing your content over the many social platforms.

Conclusion:

Short form content is a great way to build your brand and keep your audience engaged without wasting their time. If you strip down your video to the best shots it can be just as effective as a 10 minute video.
